Here’s where you stand, Dan.
You’ve started building, and now it’s time to get strategic about what you’re building toward. The reps are there. The intention is next.
Dan, you've got real structural thinking here. The way you'd approach a sponsorship, the fact that you're already researching what's working in your niche before deciding what to make — that's not nothing. A lot of people skip that entirely and just make videos they feel like making. So there's a solid foundation underneath all of this.
But I want to be straight with you about what I'm actually seeing. You told me your content is "mostly in my head" and that you keep putting off creating. You also said every video feels like starting from scratch. And that's the thing — your systems score is masking the real problem. You scored well on systems because you think in systems. But a pipeline system only works if there's something in the pipeline. Right now, Dan, the bottleneck isn't your process. It's the gap between thinking and publishing. I've been there myself. I had notebooks full of ideas for months before I posted anything. It felt productive. It wasn't.
You mentioned wanting to build a brand, a business, a platform. I get that. But none of that gets built in your head. The research skills, the sponsorship instincts, the business ideas — those are real assets, and right now they're sitting in a parked car. Your first 20 videos aren't about being good. They're about getting the reps in so your actual skills catch up to your thinking. Writing, on-camera presence, editing, packaging — each one of those is practically its own degree. You're not going to nail them without publishing through the awkward early stage. Nobody does.
So use this as a guardrail, not gospel. The goal isn't a perfect channel strategy right now. It's getting something out the door this week, and then doing it again. The clarity you're looking for comes from publishing, not from planning.
Based on where you scored, these are the questions worth asking yourself right now.
Are you posting consistently because you have a plan, or because staying busy feels like progress? When was the last time you stopped to study what’s actually working, not just on your channel, but on the platform?
Are you picking video topics based on what feels fun or easy, or based on what’s already working on the platform? Before your last video, did you research the title and thumbnail, or figure those out right before you hit upload?
How much of your time goes to creative work vs. re-making decisions you’ve already made? Do you have templates for your scripts, descriptions, and thumbnails, or are you reinventing the wheel every video?
How many income streams are you trying to build at once? If you had to pick just one revenue source and go all-in for 90 days, which one would move the needle the most?
Templates, scripts, checklists, and tools. Everything I use and recommend, organized by where you are in your journey.
